I'm in my 37th year of teaching private drum lessons, and I'm enjoying it more than I ever have. I've taught at Maytan's since March of 2000. I'm a busy jobbing drummer, playing in 12 local bands. These groups range from big bands playing swing music at public events and concert halls, to rock bands & blues bands playing in nightclubs. I play in three different church bands. The "Maytan Soul Band" is in its 6th year, playing free shows for local schools. My main teaching emphasis is in rudimental drumming, jazz and classical. I teach students to prepare them for mallets, tympani, jazz reading, drum line, rock and more. I teach weeknight evenings beginning at 5pm, and I teach mid-days on Saturdays.
