Maytan's Committment to the Local Music Scene For years, Maytan Music Center has been an integral part of the Reno local music scene. In addition to being the best place in town to get anything a band could need, Maytan's upstairs loft is the best music listening room in Reno. This room has played host to everything from classical music recitals, to heavy metal bands like Reno's own Lingus, to blues and folk. Maytan Music Center regularly donates time and space to local groups like the Reno Pops Orchestra and The Northern Nevada Bluegrass Association. Most recently, Maytan Music Center has proudly partnered with Todd South, host of what has for years been voted Reno's Best Open Mic in the Reno News & Review, and the Reno Music Project. Todd is a well-known supporter of the local Reno music scene and local bands, and the new Reno Music Project takes this love for local music to a new level. By partnering with Maytan Music Center, Todd South not only continues to support local bands and musicians, but does so in a room dedicated to music -- no espresso makers, no cash register, no idle chatter. A music listening experience that cannot be found anywhere else in the area. Every Friday night the Reno Music Project and Maytan Music Center are proud to present the best open mic and jam session in the Reno area. The general public of Reno and Sparks are welcome to come listen every Friday night to some of the most talented singers, songwriters, and players in town. Additionally, on select Saturday nights, the Reno Music Project and Maytan Music Center present the Musician's Showcase featuring some of the best local bands in the community.
