Our Goals & Mission • Develop & encourage original talent: For years we've heard the complaint, "Reno lacks a decent music scene." We believe the scene is what you make it! Our aim is to help develop and share Reno's music renaissance with the world. • Promote music for music's sake: Songwriters & musicians are rarely able to perform their music in a true listening room for an appreciative audience. Events produced by the Reno Music Project at Maytan's are always about just one thing: the music. • Produce "all-ages" shows: The Reno area has never been the best place for young musicians and music lovers. As such, we strive to produce events open to audience members of all ages in a family-friendly environment! • Provide an outstanding performance space: Our award-winning Musician's Showcase series and Reno's Best Open Mic nights began in 2000 with big dreams and modest resources at a small coffeehouse. In 2007 we found the perfect partner in Maytan Music Center, providing us room to grow with a larger performance space, recording studio, and plenty of natural synergy as we work together to nurture and support Reno's independent music community.
